Challenge Tires London and South East CX League - Herne Hill 1

Cyclo-Cross , London – Sunday, 27 Dec 2020

Event Summary

Event Overview

Herne Hill Velodrome has Cyclo Cross running through its veins, despite the obvious track credentials. Built in 1891, the venue hosted the track events in the 1948 Olympics, and has since been redeveloped in the early 00’s to include sports like Cyclo Cross. The singletracks, bombholes and banks that loop in and out of the velodrome form the perfect battle ground .and is one of the most popular courses in the South East

The Velodrome is in a concealed entrance in Burbage Road. 104 Burbage Road Herne Hill London SE24 9HE. Parking in the venue is limited only to organsiing teams but street parking is plentiful and as the race is a one bike race with no equipment pits, take the oppertunity to ride and race.

Of course this season racing is going to be a little different due to the Covid Pandemic. Please read the following link with details of rules - https://www.londonxleague.co.uk/rules/

Note  - When this event goes live at 8pm on Sunday 13th December, the entry rules will be as follows. All rider catagories that reside in the South East that live in Tier 1 or 2 are eligble to enter. All riders in catagories over 18 that reside in Tier 3 areas will not be eligble to enter, only under 10/12/14/16 and Juniors will be able to enter.

*News Update* as of Tuesday 15th December 2020.

With London going into Tier 3 from Tuesday 15th December this means that the first event at Herne Hill on 27th December will now only be able to accept entries from over 18 riders categories that live in the London Tier 3 zone. Only riders in the under 18 categories will be able to race from outside of the London Tier 3 zone. As this has changed mid way through the open entry window this means that some riders entries are going to be rejected that were eligible when entries opened, example - all over 18 categories that live in Sussex or Surrey. This was communicated as a possibility on the event page info and riders will receive emails confirming accepted and if rejected, the reason why. This does mean that we are adapting the rules a little as we now will have more places for riders over 18 that are not in the South East Region but in the London Tier 3 zone that can include Eastern and Central league riders.

However the government will be reviewing the Teir system on Wednesday 16th December, if at that stage Greater London is moved into Tier3 then we will only be able to accept entries from over 18 riders that reside in theGreater London Tier 3 area.

All entries are to be reviewed from 16th December onwards and you will either recieve an email confirming your entry or not.

We will also be sending an event information email a few days before the event so you are updated on how to attend and race.
