Event Overview

As everyone knows due to the pandemic, our regular racing calendar at the Hillingdon circuit over the Summer on Tuesday evenings had to be cancelled.

In addition to the problems with the pandemic Hillingdon Council tempoarily closed the venue after a serious accident between a pedestrian and cyclist during a general usage session.  Over the past month the User Group and British Cycling have been working with the council to reopen the facility. A number of measures have been put in place to make all users safer,  namely cutting back the vegetation, more signage informing the public that the venue is a cycle circuit and with a presence of council officials at the venue has seen the number of other users  decreasing and the council have now allowed a test event to go ahead.

Hopefully if this event goes well then racing will resume at the venue in the near future, under the current restrictions laid out in British Cycling's "The Way Forward" document. 

We are of course going to be limited in rider numbers due to the current regulations under COVID, i.e. 24 riders in each bubble of racers.

Riders will race 3 races each, 1 race of 15 mins anti clockwise, 1 race of 15 mins clockwise and and then 1 points race, sprints every 2nd lap on the short circuit of the venue anti clockwise.

There will be no BC Ranking Points awarded in the events as per current BC policy.

Riders registered with West Thames will be given priority in the event that the event is oversubscribed.

3rd category riders will have the choice of riding in the E/1/2/3 or the 3rd 4ths event.

Women riders are welcome to ride in any category as per BC tech regs R5.2.1.9 and R5.2.1.10 -Open to any Senior and Junior male and female riders of all categories . 

The overall winners on the day wil be decided on a points based system, each individual race will have points awarded to the top 8, winner 8pts down to 1 pt for 8th , each riders points for the 3 races will be accumalated to ajudge the overall winner .

There will be an award for the top rider in the E/1/2/3 and the 3rd 4th cat race. With a seperate award for the first 3rd cat in the E/1/2/3 and for the top 4th cat in the 3rd 4th race 

It is crucial that you pin your race numbers in the correct position as photo finish equipment is used. 

The event is run as Regional C classification.

Due to COVID-19 we would encourage people to arrive fully ready to race, and to limit any time spent in the event HQ which will be open for toilet facilities. We ask that riders in the E123 event do not arrive before 14.30hrs. 

No one suffering from a high temperature or any COVID symptoms should attend the event as per current Government guidelines.
