Event Overview

The Rotary Club of St Austell Bay are organising the first Cornish Alpine Cycling Challenge in aid of charities

You can be the first to enjoy the Cornish Alpine Cycling Challenge which will take you around the St Austell clay area.

This is a non-competitive gravel sportive mainly off road, on tracks and trails, offering the opportunity to explore the Cornish Alps suitable for novice to experienced riders. There are two routes 12 miles (19km) and 25 miles (40km)

The Bronze 12 mile route takes you along trails from the centre of St Austell to the world famous Eden Project and back, you will ride over redundant clay workings on gravel tracks, this is a testing route for new and novice riders, ideal for families with children over 11 yrs old who want to do an activity together.

The Silver 25 mile route will be mainly on gravel trails and pathways around St Austell taking in former and current clay workings that are not normally open to the public.  You will be going to the top of one of the highest man made clay hills in Cornwall with views Coast to Coast.  This will be a very testing trial ride aimed at more experience off roaders.

12 mile route is suitable for gravel, cyclocross, mountain bikes and suitable E-bikes. Not suitable for road bikes.  Event starts and returns in St Austell and there will be some riding on public roads.

25 mile route is suitable for MTB and suitable MTB  E-bikes due to rough terrain over parts of the course.
