E/1/2/3 Road Race in Memory of Peter Sandy, "true cycling legend” who has passed away at the age of 87.
Peter Sandy, president of the Somerset Road Club, a “dwindling” cycling group he revived 40 years ago, passed away on June 13 2017.
“Peter was a very successful road racer in the south west and beyond.
“During the 10 years between 1977 and 1987 he was placed in the first six finishers in nearly 100 races, with numerous podiums and first places to his credit.
“As has been said many times by those people who had the pleasure of meeting Peter and riding with him, he was a true cycling legend, a sad loss to the sport.
“Peter was an inspiration to so many riders throughout the years, young and old, he will be sadly missed for his enthusiasm for cycling and the many past racing stories that he told at our cafe stops.”

A great course through the Somerset countryside, with 10 laps of the SW136 Nicholashayne Course.
This event is open to E,1,2,3 rides only, with Teams of 4 to 6 riders allowed.
Prizes for top 10 finishers and the best finisher in Cat3 and Youth.
First Prize £300.00 plus free entry to the 2021 event.
Second prize £200.00 plus free entry to the 2021 event.
Third Prize £100.00 plus free entry to the 2021 event.
