Event Overview

A new cycle sportive ride startig in the centre of Wiltshire, starting at the scenic venue of Dauntsey's, with its spacious views looking up to Salisbury Plain. 

Taking place on the friday bank holiday to mark the 75th Anniversay of VE Day, this sportive ride offers a variation of routes suitable for both individuals and club groups. An opportunity to enjoy a pleasant days cycling, with an option to enjoy a Hog and veggie Roast afterwards in the pleasant surroundings of the Dauntsey's School - picnicking also welcomed for families.  

A choice of three road routes - 80,50 and 15 miles

The 80 mile route will head west and south, travelling though Westbury, Mere and Shaftesbury - looking over Blackmore Vale - before heading north again and back into Wiltshire. The 50 mile ride will follow a similar but shorter route, staying in Wiltshire and meandering through the lanes around Mere and Westbury. The Family ride route of 15 miles will stay in the relative flat lands around Dauntsey's, on the edge of the Vale of Pewsey.

Event Organiser Harry Lodge was a pupil at the Dauntsey's in the late 70s to the mid 80s and became the Dauntsey's first Olympic athlete when he was part of the GB cycling team that competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics,South Korea, before he went on to live in Belgium and Italy to follow a 13 year professional cycling career.

One of the great assets to the location is the openness of the landscape, which will allow you relax, gather your thoughts and enjoy peace and tranquility. If you are wanting a more sociable setting , then there is also the events HQ location in the sports pavilion, which has a cafe & restaurant, which will lead out to the picnicking area of the playing fields where the event village awaits you. Toilets and shower facilities are available in the pavilion, where coffee, tea and soft drinks will be available throughout the day
