Event Overview

Friends of Ryedale School are delighted to be bringing the Ryedale Rumble back to the sportive calendar for the 3rd year running. It will take place on Sunday, 28th June 2020.

In 2020, the Ryedale Rumble will support two great charities. Not only will we be raising money for Ryedale School but we are also supporting Cancer Research with £5 from each entry fee supporting a charity close to the hearts of our committee members.  Having first being diagnosed with cancer in 2013, our race director Lizzie, has faced this devastating disease on two other occasions - most recently whilst organising the 2019 Ryedale Rumble. The strength and determination that Lizzie showed in fighting this disease is an inspiration to those around her. With cancer directly affecting other members of the committee and their friends and family, we feel it is important to help a charity that is looking forward to the day that all cancers can be cured.

After another success in 2019 we will be using the same 3 routes that take in the North York Moors, the Howardian Hills and of course our beautiful Ryedale itself. A rider in 2019 summed it up perfectly "Mother Nature has gifted the event with the best cycling routes in the whole of the UK (and relatively traffic free) We hope you will find the same and that the three routes offer something for most abilities.

The lengths of the three routes are 167.9km, 114,8km and 67.0km. The long route (Extreme) takes in the now traditional monument climbs of Boltby, Blakey and Rosedale Chimney Banks. The medium route (Challenge) takes in both Boltby and Blakey Bank and the short route (Inspire) will stay the same as this year with less time on the A170 and includes Boltby Bank. All routes start and finish at Ryedale School and of course we will have our now ledgendary feed stations stocked with savouries, homemade cakes, fruits and gels  along the routes.
