These Women's Coaching to Racing Sessions are a structured programme over 5 sessions that will give you the skills and confidence you need to enter your first road race! The venue is the Hillingdon cycle circuit, where you get 1 mile of lovely smooth tarmac with plenty of experienced coaches, so you can learn and improve your skills safely.
The main topics you'll cover are:
- Bunch riding
- Cornering
- Climbing and Descending
- Sprinting
- Attacking and bridging gaps
- Low-speed bike handling
- Strength and fitness

Each session builds on the last so the more you can attend the better, plus there'll be a mini-race at the end of each session to put your skills into practice.

Info for Riders

Session 5 is a round-up of the previous 4 and will focus on putting what you've learned into race craft. You'll cover:
- Position in a bunch
- Group high-speed cornering
- Advanced bike control
- Sprinting scenarios
- Echelons, breakaways and chasing
- Advice on race preparation
- Plus the mini-race at the end!


Essentials: Helmet and gloves. NO mudguards, lights etc. (securely attached computers OK). Normal close-fitting cycling gear, no sleeveless tops. Bottle of water/sports drink (drinking water available).

The weather can be variable and it's usually windy at Hillingdon so bring spare clothes to layer up.

Tea, coffee and snacks provided and included in your entry fee.
