Event Overview

A Paracycling Session (Freewheel Only) - Invite Only (Please contact the organiser before booking on the session to make sure these sessions are suitable). 

Are these sessions suitable for me?

A beginner/novice session for riders aged 10+ years old. 

Sessions will be on the outdoor track at Carmarthen Track.

These sessions will be 50% skills and 50% fitness, the sessions can entail techniques/skills like cornering, braking, gear selection, riding in groups. These skills will be carried out through fun activities and can add extra challenges for bit of fitness too. 

These sessions are fun development sessions for paracycling, riders do not need to be thinking of competing but these sessions can help progress riders onto the paracycling pathway. 

Equipment

It is encouraged to bring your own equipment however equipment can be borrowed, but equipment is limited and the riders will need to inform the organiser/coach to gather the equipment ready for the session as early as possible. 

Equipment to be borrowed:

* Freewheel bikes: Mountain bikes up to 27.5inch wheels (with or without strapped pedals), cyclo-cross bikes (like a road bike but with thicker tires), up to 24inch wheels (with or without strapped pedals). 

- (Can be used at either Carmarthen Velodrome or National Closed Road Circuit, Pembrey).

* Tandems for riders taller than 4ft 8 (Carmarthen Velodrome only) - Needs a pilot. 

* Helmets

* Handcycles (Closed road circuit only)

* Trikes (Closed road circuit only).

Upon Acceptance/Consent Forms

Riders will recieve a follow up email with more details about the session upon acceptance of entry by the organiser. This email will also include a consent form for each rider to participate in the session. Please aim to arrive at the session at least 15mins prior to the session for a session briefing, signing on and carry out the regular safety check on equipment/helmets/clothing. 

Cancellations

* Sessions may be cancelled if there are low entries.

* If the weather is severe for example heavy rain & windy, snow/ice etc then the sessions may be cancelled. If this is the case an email will be sent out as soon as possible leading up to the session. 

* If you decide to not go ahead of the session, please inform the organiser/coach.

Clothing

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, tight fitting clothing is encouraged for example lyrca/leg/arms warmers/bib tights. Example: If it is winter please wear waterproofs/windproofs and generally warmer clothing to cover legs and arms. If riders turn up with bare legs and arms they will be turned away. 

Footwear

Recommend to wear trainers, these can be suitable for flat pedals or strapped pedals with our borrowed equipment or your own. If you bring your own bike and have clipless pedals these are okay to use also. 

Food/Drink

Please bring plenty of snacks and drinks. 

Equipment/Helmets

It is encouraged to bring your own equipment/helmet however equipment can be borrowed, but equipment is limited and the riders will need to inform the organiser/coach to gather the equipment ready for the session as early as possible.

* Freewheel bikes: Mountain bikes up to 27.5inch wheels (with or without strapped pedals), cyclo-cross bikes (like a road bike but with thicker tires), up to 24inch wheels (with or without strapped pedals).

* Tandems for riders taller than 4ft 8 (Carmarthen Velodrome only) - Needs a pilot.
