About the Event

Info for Riders

For the third year running in association with the 1066 cycling festival. The Historic Half Hundred provides a Challenging Hilly 50-mile ride. Each year we have changed the route but always provide beautiful country and sea views coupled with some of the best historic buildings in the 1066 region. We try to showcase the best scenery in the region alongside a good challenging ride. This year we take in De la Warr pavilion, Herstmonceux Observatory, Herstmonceux Castle, Batemans, Mad Jacks Fullers Follies and Bodiam Castle. This is an excellent work out for riders wanting to train for a longer sporting event. Or a hard ride for beginners. We have water and free food stops at the Castles on-route manned by experienced first aiders. The Event starts and finishes at the iconic De La Warr Pavilion on Bexhill seafront. Location of the 1066 cycle festival which highlights cycle events for the whole family. Competitors receive discounts for local restaurants on the day. Free Parking is provided for the first 100 competitors to sign up. This is a non-competitive ride, so we do not provide chip reading, however all riders who complete the challenge receive a medal. Registration starts at 7am the ride starts at 8am. All competitors need to have passed through Herstmonceux Castle stop by 10am - therefore last rider must be away by 8.30am.
