(Trial Session) Welsh Cycling Development Block

Event Overview

This session is for riders who are hoping to join me on Wednesday Nights for the U12 Development sessions. You will be assessed on the following criteria and if you pass you will then be eligible to attend the Wednesday night Sessions.

The criteria for these sessions is listed below... If you feel you meet this criteria then book a space on this session to be assessed. 


  • Rider Eligibility

    • Aged between 10-14 Years, Priority will be given to U12 riders.
    • Experience of riding fixed wheel with attendance at least 1 indoor track session.
    • British Cycling member
    • Eligible for Welsh team selection ( Resident in Wales for at least 5 years, Born in Wales or Parent born in Wales)

     

    Riding the track

    • ·         All riders must be able to start and stop on the inner rail…

    -          When starting riders must be able to clip their feet in unassisted.

    -          When starting riders must check their right hand shoulder to ensure it is safe to ride.

    -          When stopping riders must be able to reduce their speed and stop on the inner rail with their left hand unassisted.

    • ·         Riders must be able confidently ride on the blue line for the duration of the activity (Typically 20 Minutes) without showing any signs of erratic movement (Changes in speed, Dropping below the line)
    • ·         Riders must be able to confidently change their hand position from riding on their tops to their drops, regardless of position on the track.

     

    Riding as a group

    • ·         Riders must be able to follow a wheel leaving no more than a bike length from the riders in front.
    • ·         Riders must be able to change from the front of the group by moving up the track and rejoining at the rear.
    • ·         Riders must be able to ride in pairs on the blue line.
    • ·         Riders must be able to demonstrate they are able to follow a wheel up and down the track.
    • ·         In a group of 10 riders, when changing the front rider should take no longer than one lap to rejoin at the back of the group.
