Elan Valley Epic 2019

Offroad Endurance , Powys – Saturday, 23 Mar 2019

Event Summary

Event Overview

We have been working with NRW and the Elan again, and are pleased to bring you back for the second year, THE ELAN VALLEY EPIC 2019. The event last year was a complete success, and we are predicting this one to be a sellout due to only 200 places available.

Elan Valley has been placed in the top ten mountain biking trails in Wales by no other than Red Bull.

Set amongst spectacular backdrops of Victorian dams and reservoirs, open hills, old railways and woodlands, the scenery is as much a reward as the sweeping valley descents.

As with all the other Bryniau MTB events we set challange and not races. The challenge here is 55k and 35k loops of natural riding! Both routes punch way above their weight too, so you guys are in for a challenge. Technically we grade it a RED, but it's all natural terrain and not trail centers. We have decided to offer a 19k easier ride too, sticking to our motto of 'events should be safe, fun, relaxed and opened to everyone'.

Be mindful before you enter, that you will be out in th hills away from the shelter of trees etc, so come prepared. There is a basic kit list that we suggest that contain some spares and warm clothes. This can be found at the bottom of the page, but they are all commonsens items that you should be carrying anyway in our oppoinion. If you don't have the spares be mindful that you might have a bit of a walk down to the nearest marshal point as there won't be a marshal standing on every corner of the route. So come prepared for a day out in the mountains.

The route however will be fully marked out by our new large hi-viz signs and a GPX and map of the route will be released by the 1st of February.

Anyone with a bike, weather mountain or cyclo cross and good fitness will be able to complete the routes on offer.

The event is capped at 200!! so it will be quite a social and personal event.

So, if you agree that this will also be an EPIC challenge that you'd like to see in the event calendar please enter sooner rather than later. There is quite a bit of interest in the event already and we are striclty capped at 200.

The usual Bryniau MTB event services will be provided. The legaendary feed station, full waymarked with our proven new hi-viz signs, sweepers and first aid cover.

T.shirts will be available to order as usual with a design sample available to see before christmas.
