Memorial Ride for Jez Jacob

Reliability Trial , Cullompton – Sunday, 20 May 2018

Event Summary

Event Overview

On the 20th May we will be holding a memorial ride for Jez Jacob.

This will be a non-competitive ride through the lanes and areas of Devon which he so enjoyed exploring with Kentisbeare Oldies Cycling Society.

This is the inaugural event and we aim to continue this each year.

There will be 2 cycling courses, 20 miles and 50 miles with a food stop half way round each route.

The 20 mile course will take the riders to Willand, through the lanes of Brithem Bottom to Tiverton, back along the Blundells road to Halberton, back to Willand and into Kentisbeare.

The 50 mile course is more of a challenge, rides will take the same route to Willand but here will slit off towards Sampford Peverell, north up the Lowman valley to Bampton, south along the Exe valley to Tiverton, to continue south with a left turn along the Burn valley to Butterleigh, along to Cullompton, over the M5 with a left at the Merry Harriers towards Clyst Hydon, then through Talaton to Feniton, north to Payhembury, along towards Broadhembury and then back to Kentisbeare.

We aim to finish both rides by 1300.

The ride HQ will be Kentisbeare Village Hall. Here we will have refreshments and toilet facilities. There will also be refreshments at the food station in Tiverton (Ashton Manor Brewery).

A car service with a bike rack will be available for mechanical breakdowns and recovery of those unable to complete ride.
