Taunton Rotary Club 50/50 Cycle Challenge

Event Summary

Event Overview

  • 10-mile (16km) family route includes part of the Taunton-Bridgwater Canal and is ideal for “Sunday Cyclists”.
  • 15 mile (24km) route includes extended route along the canal; ideal for those who wish to ride more than 10 miles but not as much as 21 miles!
  • 21-mile (34km) route includes extended route along the canal.
  • Bike 4 Buck Challenge Ride (in memory of Luke Buckingham) - 46 miles (74km) for the more serious cyclists, the Road Riders challenge involves a circuit around the Quantock Hills including Crowcombe Combe and climb of Cothelstone Hill (used in the Tour of Britain). Designed to push riders this route will include optional sections which can be bypassed on the day should you wish to opt out of the most challenging portions.

To Apply - You can apply to ride or walk via the Huish online shop. Submit your rider/walker details when paying through the Huish shop. Richard Huish College will provide this information to The Rotary Club of Taunton on your behalf.

Entry Fee Information - 50% of your entry fee will be donated to Bloodwise

  • £10 per adult rider; £5 for students in full-time education.
  • Payable by 21st April, an early-bird entry fee of £15 for a family of up to 4 riders (2 adults & 2 children or 1 adult & 3 children) with £2 per additional child thereafter.
  • Family of up to 4 riders entry fee of £20 payable 22nd April – 6 May inclusive.

Just Giving - An easy way to collect your sponsorship money is to create your own Just Giving page. To qualify for team or individual prizes sponsorship monies must be received by the Cycle Ride Administrator by Tuesday 4th September 2018 at the latest.

Prizes- Medals or wristbands will be awarded to all participants.

Other prizes include:

  • A bike donated by Ralph Colman Cycles (Bike UK) for the highest overall individual money raiser
  • Vouchers donated by Go Outdoors to the value of £100, £75 and £50 respectively for the second, third and fourth placed individual money raisers.

General Information

• All cycle routes are colour-coded and well marked; maps will be available for collection on the day; water stations will be available on all routes.

• A list of emergency contact phone numbers will be available on the day.

• All cyclists and walkers must check back in to the Richard Huish by 16.00 at the latest
