Event Overview

- One block payment of £26 for 4 weeks (Including £1 Britsh Cycling Admin Fee)

- Aimed at riders 10-16 years old that have few (1-2 sessions) or no track experience riding an indoor velodrome. 

- Aimed at riders who would want to progress to Welsh Cycling pathway programmes such as Welsh Cycling Track Club Clusters

* Track bikes are available to hire from Newport Velodrome Reception at a cost of £5. 

* British Cycling Members can book online (Free for youth riders for the first year).

Session Content of 4 Weeks:

- Speed control whilst using a fixed wheel bike.

- Moving on and off the track safely

- Observation techniques

- Riding different lines on the track progressing to the top perimeter fence.

- Riding in and out of the saddle.

- Riding with one hand.

- Riding and stopping on the inner and perimeter fence.

- Riding single file, following a wheel

- Riding in a group, side by side. 

- Changing in a group.

- Track Etiquette.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Aimed at riders who are 10-16 Years Old.

* Track bikes are available to hire from Newport Velodrome Reception at a cost of £5. 

- Please aimed to arrive a minimum of 15minutes prior to the session, this will ensure enough time to get bike hire, signing on with consent forms and allow for a track briefing. Session will start prompt 6.30pm with riders ready in advance.

Please bring the following: 

- A helmet (with no peak) and gloves/mits (compulsory). 

- Drink and snacks

- Clothing: Tight fitting clothing as much as possible, advising to wear at least two layers upper body and long sleeve. Shorts are suitable. 

- Footwear: Trainers or cycling shoes with look keo cleat fittings. The hire bikes have pedal straps or can take these out to clip in the pedals. 

- Bike: If riders are bringing their own track bikes, please ensure that they are in good working order and they adhere to indoor track environments. Such as crank lengths are between 165mm-170mm and tyre pressures are to the appropriate pressure.
