Year End Sportive (Cancelled)

Cycle Sportive , Gloucestershire – Sunday, 31 Dec 2017

Event Summary

This event has been cancelled

Event Overview

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the Year End Sportive.

While it is unlikely that there will still be snow on the route on the day, the snow in this area none the less has impacted on the event.

The Route Check and Assessment, which encompasses all aspects of riders' Health and Safety, scheduled to take place this morning, has had to be cancelled due to the weather conditions.

These conditions and continuing snow impact the process of signing the route scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Entry fees paid for this ride will be carried over to a future Sportive.
The first of these will be at the end of March. We also have an event in June, one in August and another in September.
Dare we say it, another Year End Sportive will be scheduled for next December - on the basis we get lucky!

   ROUTE OPTIONS:
30 miles [48km] - relatively flat and easy going for the casual rider
50 miles [80km] - a mixture of flat and rolling hills for intermediate riders

   ROUTES:
All our routes travel through some of the most beautiful Cotswold countryside.
Our routes avoid busy roads and use quiet lanes with very little traffic.
Additionally, our routes are scenic and a decent mix of hills and flat.
This is not just our opinion but the opinion of riders in our previous events.
They gave our routes a rating of 92.2%!

   PLEASE NOTE:
The event is now going to start and finish at The Bike Shed, Tetbury.

A non-competitive cycle challenge with 2 fully signposted courses of 30 miles and 50 miles.

The Cotswolds is well known for its beautiful countryside, gentle wolds, with river valleys, water meadows, beech woods and sleepy limestone villages.

A mix of flatlands, rolling hills and sharp escarpments makes this area very special for bike rides such as the YEAR END SPORTIVE.

For this ride we have laid out 2 especially lovely routes.

Our policy for routing your ride means that we positively avoid main roads where we can and identify quiet country lanes with spectacular views. We also prefer to vary our routes, so no 2 rides with us are the same!

PLEASE NOTE:

  • For operational reasons the event will now start and finish at The Bike Shed, Tetbury.
  • The deadline for online entries is midnight on Sat 30 Dec.
  • After online registration closes, entry is possible on the day.
  • Entry on the day is by cash payment only.
  • Entries carried over to next event if bad weather causes cancellation.

A minimum of £1 per rider will be donated to the charity JOLE RIDER.
JOLE RIDER deliver bicycles to schools in rural Africa to enable children to reach their education.
