HSBC UK Go-Ride Holiday Coaching Camps offer training and education dedicated to specific levels of rider over a range of disciplines. Camps are available at two levels.

If your child is new to cycling or not a regular at a club or races then the beginner’s camps are for them. These offer the participant a chance to develop and become proficient at a range of core cycling and bike handling techniques that will prepare them for their first club session or race.

If your child has experience of racing and is a Go-Ride Club regular then there are advanced camps. There will be the chance to improve on the skills developed at their club as well as look at techniques across disciplines that will progress your child to the next level of their cycling journey.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Young Cyclists are invited to take part in a 2 Day Holiday Programme at Newbury Showground on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd August from 11am – 1pm.

West Berkshire Council’s Public Health & Wellbeing Team have partnered up with British Cycling and Newbury Road Club to deliver a 2 day cycle coaching event at the Showground for 5-14-year-olds.

You can enter one or both days

The camp is open to beginners as well as young club riders.

The riders will be divided into groups according to age and ability.

  1. Beginners. Skills covered will be basic balance, control skills and mini competitions.
  2.  Club riders. Skills covered. Grass Track Racing and Cyclo Cross with coach led competitions.

Bring along your own bike and helmet. We have helmets plus a small number of  mountain bikes suitable for age 8+ to loan.

This is a great opportunity for young riders to try mini-competitions and learn new skills from British Cycling coaches.

Cost £3.00 + registration fee.

Please bring a completed parental consent form, attached. Also available on the day.

Bring a packed lunch as well as drinks and snacks for the activity.

Don’t forget to dress for the weather. A waterproof jacket and something warm to put on between rides.

Note – Young Riders (U16) who are a member of a Go-Ride Club (eg Newbury Road Club) can get free Silver British Cycling membership. This includes third party cover and legal representation for your child whenever they are out riding their bike.
