Ride Like a Grrl

MTB Endurance , Tomintoul – Saturday, 23 Sep 2017

Event Summary

Event Overview

This year's Ride Like a Grrl has a new format which we hope will provide as much fun and entertainment as usual but with a slightly different challenge.

The event will take place at BikeGlenlivet where riders will be challenged to complete as many laps of the blue route as they can within a 6 hour window of time.  Riders can enter the race solo, in pairs or in trios.  This year, the event will also be open to Junior riders, who can enter solo, pair or trio - however please note that composite teams of senior and junior riders are not permitted.

Although this year there's no differentiation between Adventure and Epic routes, we are expecting to see some serious racing taking place on the trail as riders jostle to complete the most laps within the time.  The familiar Ride Like a Grrl vibe will still be there though, and all entrants will be welcomed whether they want to blast to the top spot or just enjoy a bit of fun with friends.

Info for Riders

INFO

  • Competitors are aiming to complete as many laps of the route as possible within the 6 hours. Each rider (including team entrants) will be issued with a timing dibber which will record their lap each time they pass through the hub. Only completed laps will count.  The emphasis is on fun, but you can race as hard as you like!
  • Please select your entrance category (solo, pair or trio) carefully.
  • Teams should either made up of all Senior riders, or all Junior riders - composite teams are not permitted.
  • Marshalls will be present at strategic points and to oversee the transition zone.  First aid will be expertly provided by Avium who will be on hand to put you back together if required.
  • Usual no helmet/no bell/no ride rules apply. You should be able to carry out basic trailside repairs.
  • The race starts at 1000 on Saturday 23rd of September. Registration must be completed between 0800 and 0930 that morning and all entrants must be at the start line at 0945 when there will be a short safety briefing.  The race will commence immediately after this at 1000 so riders who are participating in the first lap should attend prepared to ride.
  • Parking will be strictly controlled so that one car per solo, pair or trio will be allowed in the main carpark on the right hand side of the hub approach road.  Other vehicles can be parked in the lower sections of the fire road which are only a short walk away from the base.  More info to follow by email.
  • There will be lots going on at the hub during the day for family, friends and team riders enjoying a break between laps so make sure you bring cash - have a look round the stalls, soak up some live music, enjoy some yoga or a massage, sample top notch catering from the Coffee Still cafe and you might even find some friendly bike mechanics.
  • We are sorry that no refunds are available.  We may be able to substitute riders if requested before entries close, but this is at our discretion.
  • The trails will be closed to the public all day.
