The John Davies Memorial Road Race is part of the Scottish Cycling West Road Race Series 2017

as such entrant will be selected on the criteria based within the Series regulations.  

SELECTION OF THE FIELD

The field for all races will be selected using the following criteria in order until the field is full:

1. 10 places will be allocated to Juniors

2. 10 places will be allocated to Women

3. Remaining field:

1 st claim – Riders from organising clubs

2 nd claim - All other riders based on merit

Reg B – 50% 3 rd Cat, 50% 4 th Cat

The Race Route

The Race will be neutralised from the Strip (HQ) until clear of the town on the A735

The race route is a simple triangle, towards Stewarton, a Very sharp Left hander back along the B796 until the Cunninghamhead Crossroads then a left back to Kilmaurs.

One lap is 8.5miles in length there will be 5 laps

There are 3 main danger points  

1. Through the town of Kilmaurs there will be parked cars and pedestrians. We will marshal this as thoroughly as possible but please pay attention and warn the other riders of any hazards.
2. The sharp left turn is on a descent. Please control your speed as it will be very east to overrun the corner onto the wrong side of the carriageway into oncoming traffic. We will marshal this as thoroughly as possible.
3. There is a pinch bridge just as you approach Kilmaurs on the Irvine Road (after the Cunninghamhead turn) . Please give each other space. We will marshal this as thoroughly as possible.
