Event Summary

Event Overview

Lagan's Cycle Challenge  They Came, They Rode, Some Conquered!

Not your average cycle event..... Total distance 71.13km with 4165ft of incline!

Take part in our exhilarating open cycling challenge around the beautiful countryside of South Lancashire. Tackling the challenging inclines and enjoying the fabulous views to North Wales, Cheshire and Blackpool.

A total of 71.13 km of incredible countryside with 4165ft of incline, not for the faint-hearted- Let me assure you a BC Grade 2 is not quite true! Part of the route is covered in the UK IronMan. If you are training for a bigger event this will be a fantastic challenge to start the spring with.

A masseur will be available at the end of the ride for those aching legs.

All we ask is that you work hard for a few hours like all of our heart kiddies do everyday right into adulthood! For them they do this ride constantly even when trying to eat their meals......

Time limit for the ride is 5 hours

About the Event

Info for Riders

Due to the location we recommend you come prepared with:

  • 2 Water Bottles
  • 2 Spare inner tubes
  • 1 Bike pump
  • Energy Gels
  • NOTE: Make sure your bottle cages fit well and tighten the bolts.

We do have marshals and great signage around the course. We also have water fill ups, crew cars with bike racks and track pumps should you require it.

The course is approx 71.13KM of gruelling up hill. It includes Sheephouse Lane both ways and then "The F Hill" aka Foxholes to name a couple. Many find the instant ascent from the start very challenging, therefore we recommend you do plenty of hill training.

There is a 5 hour time limit on this ride for safety reasons and the weather can turn from warm to very cold in a matter of minutes due to the height. Please come prepared.

As a charity we welcome you to set up a virgin money giving online donation page and raise as much funds for us as possible. Every penny counts as we support families with children under 5 who have a heart defect or feeding issues.  This is not compulsary and you can ride for your chosen charity or no charity at all.

Rider packs will be posted out 1 week prior to the event, you will be asked to attach numbers to your the front and rear of you bike and your helmet. If you do move please try to remember to let us know so we can update our records accordingly.

Rider registration is 8am, Pre event talk is at 8.45am, everyone should be ready to set off for 9am prompt.

To assist us with keeping you all safe we are constantly looking for marshals to help out on the course. If you know anyone who could help please ask them to get in touch.

We wish you well in your forthcoming training and invite you to join the Lagan's Cycle Challenge 2017 Facebook event group to let everyone know how it is going. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on 01204468300.
