Event Summary

Event Overview

Our traditional pre-2014 routes ran very close to all the major climbs of stage 1 of the 2014 Tour de France, so in 2014 we did a bit of tweaking to create the Special Edition, being repeated this year, the long route of which climbs all 3 ascents - as well as 5 other significant climbs, the medium route 2 and the short route 1 of Le Tour's features.

It's an absolute classic, and you'll be riding the exact same climbs as the pros rode in 2014. A feature of the event is that the option and distance undertaken can readily be changed en route, at the feeds.

The 5 Dale 118 TdF Special Edition

5 Dales, 118 miles and 7 major ascents, including Kidstones, Buttertubs and Grinton - the 3 x 2014 Tour de France climbs.

This is a killer route - not for the fainthearted (or underprepared!) with 3100m of climbing.

3 feedstations: Keld, Hawes 1, Hawes 2.

Challenge times: Gold - 7h15, Silver - 8h15, Bronze - 9h15

The 4 Dale 85 TdF Special Edition

Same as the main route, but misses 2 of the hardest climbs. Still climbs Buttertubs and Grinton with "only" 2150m of climbing.

Enter the 118, but take this option if you're having a bad day!

Challenge times: Gold - 5h45, Silver - 6h15, Bronze - 6h45

2 feedstations: Keld, Hawes 1.

The 3 Dale 60 TdF Special Edition

Follows the main route for the first 30 miles, then 'escapes' down Swaledale. Still a major challenge, especially up Grinton, the final climb with 1500m of climbing!

Challenge times: Gold - 3h45, Silver - 4h15 - Bronze: 4h45

1 feedstation: Keld.

Entry fee (All options) : £20

This is an event organised by cyclists for cyclists and the all inclusive fee represents outstanding value, including SPORTident chip timing and certificate, en route mechanical support, rescue service and First Aid cover, pre-event refreshments, up to three feed stations and post-event hot food. We will even be donating £1 of every entry to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service. The event often sells out to the maxiumum of 500.
