BACK AGAIN! It's 2016, a year since the last event and so we have returned the Cleobury Mortimer Cycling Festival for the third year running! We're pretty excited (can you tell?!) and as is the way with our Cycling Festival, we are kicking things off with our 25 or 50 mile Sportive routes. This year, the route will take you out towards Ludlow, back over the famous Clee Hill, and back to Cleobury Mortimer via Hopton Wafers and Oreton. Again, we've devised a route that combines long climbs, fast and sweeping lanes, quieter roads and of course some stunning views across South Shropshire.
If you choose the 50 mile route then there will be the usual well stocked feed station at the half way point, which this year is at Teme Leiure in Ludlow (on the Bromfield Road), where the lovely ladies and gentlemen over there will be looking after you with hot and cold drinks, food and smiles before you head out on the second leg of your ride.
Once you return, then you will be back in the midst of the Cycling Festival itself. On the day there will be bike demos, including tests from Frog Bikes for the kids. There will also be dual slalom races, gate coaching, entertainment, a dualthlon, cold food, live band in the evening from the Sports and Social Club with a bar during the day as well. About the Event
Info for Riders
The Sportive is just a small part of Cleobury Mortimer's Cycling Festival, and both routes will start and finish from the Lacon Childe School. This year the route will take you through some of South Shropshire's villages, from Bagginswood, Stottesdon and Cleobury North before winding up in Ludlow where there will of course be a well stocked feed station for the 50 mile route at Teme Leisure (Bromfield Road), before heading through Ludlow town and climbing back up on the Clee Hill (we wouldn't want a flat ride now would we!) and taking in a scenic route back to Cleobury Mortimer.
The 25 mile route will peel off at Cleobury North and head back to Cleobury Mortimer via Silvington, Farlow and Oreton, following some fast, sweeping lanes, mixed in with a few short and sharp climbs to get the legs and the lungs working.
As per, helemts are compulosry, and event registration will open at 8.30am. Postcode for the event HQ is DY14 8PE.
