Event Overview

The purpose of this sportive is to raise awareness of the Armed Forces in the North of the United Kingdom. There will be 2 planned routes: 100 miles for experienced / club riders and 70 miles for less experienced riders.

Depart from the Sporting Lodge Inns, Middlesbrough​ at your designated time (to be given nearer the time)

Morning and afternoon refuelling stop will be set up at Hornby

Lunch will be at Phoenix House Personnel Recovery Centre​, Catterick Barracks

Finish will be at the Army Reserve Centre Coulby Newham - where there will be drinks and food supplied, the chance to celebrate your success with your fellow riders and also a presentation of medals from Veterans from the RBL!

This is a charity ride to raise money for the Royal British Legion, Ssafra and Phoenix House, and we have a VirginMoneyGiving Page for additional donations of people raising additional money for the ride.

About the Event

Info for Riders

All riders of the RBL Northern Ride will recive a high quality bespoke cycling jersey to wear for the ride and will also receive a medal on completion of the ride.

All entrants are to ensure their bikes are road worthy and safety equipment must be worn, i.e. Helmets for this sportive. Riders are to ensure they have adequate insurance for themselves for this event. The should also bring with them a spare inner tubes, puncture repair kit, associated tools and a bike pump. On the day limited repair equipment will be available to help repair minor issues. Also ensure you bring x2 water bottles, to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the ride. There will regular refreshment stops so you can re-fill the bottles with snacks. Lunch will be at Phoenix House, where warm drinks and food will be available for riders.
