30/50/80km off-road routes available through pretty Essex &Hertfordshire

 

We are calling for all riders once again to take part in the Crest Two Counties Tour; a fantastic off-road sportive offering up to 80km on bridleways, byways and quiet lanes through pretty mid Essex and Herts. The course features woodland, single track, farmland, rural villages and even streams to ford. Around 80% of the course is off the roads, and is perfect to ride using either MTB's or cross bikes.

This year is the 6th edition of our event, and we are very proud to now be a British Cycling registered event. The purpose of our event is to get people out on their bikes for a great ride in places you might be yet to discover. We are very keen to get more youngsters enjoying MTBing and have therefore reduced the entry for under 18's. All the modest entry fees go towards covering the cost of the event and also the running of our club which has been going since 1932.

The HQ, start and finish are all at the Victoria's Cycling Clubs Stag Hall, located on North Hall Road, Ugley, CM22 6JD (near Bishops Stortford) and is easily accessible from M11 Stansted junction, or Elsenham National Rail Station.

Refreshments, toilets, showers and parking are all available. The course is fully marked and with some marshalling. Riders will also receive maps and a GPX file for Garmin or other GPS devices. Riders have often complimented about how well marked the course is. Everyone has always made it back!

Following the huge success we have had in the last few years, we have opened up on-line entry this year on British Cycling for first time. Despite the transaction fees we have kept our entry price the same, just £10! Being registered with BC also enhances our 3rd party insurance cover for all riders taking part. You may also enter via post using the paper entry form. Entrants on the day are also accepted and will be £15.

About the Event

Info for Riders

HQ opens from 8am. The first riders can start from 9:00am. Last start is 10:30. There are 2 courses, one of approximately 30km and one of 50km. You can ride both to attain the 80km distance. All distances use the same entry; you simply chose on the day what you wish to ride.


Teams of 5 riders are allowed for the price of 4. You can buy a team entry and confirm riders at a later date. Please email CrestCC@hotmail.co.uk if you are interested in doing this, BC online entry for this option does not appear to be working correctly.

Under 18's must be accompanied to recieve the reduced entry fee. Under 16s must have a completed parental consent form which you can find from the BC website.
