Event Overview
The Battle in the Vale takes place in the food heart land of Leicestershire, with two courses to choose from. Enjoy a fantastic day out and maybe take in some of the local produce?
The first course is A Full Wheel of Cheese with a distance of 124 km/ 77 miles, our shorter course Just the Pork Pie which is 84 km/ 52 miles. The full Wheel of Cheese has just short of 3800ft of climbing, with Just the Pork Pie having around 2600ft
On each route expect:
- Event centre facilities
- A clearly signed/arrowed route
- GPX route maps
- Starting line gifts
- Feed stations en route, providing energy products, water, fruit etc
- Mechanical support
- Medical support
- Event photographer
- Chip timing for an instant post-event time
- Gold, silver and bronze finishing time. Separate women award times
- Online certificates
- Refreshments at the finish
- Event T-Shirt
- Registration opens at 7.30am - set off riding at any time between 8.00 and 9.30am.
A Full Wheel of Cheese:
After leaving Barrow upon Soar the route takes you towards Cold Overton, via Ashby Folville before heading north to Woolsthorpe by Belvoir via Wymondham, Saltby and Denton before turning and heading towards Bishop Cropswell and Cotgrave before heading back towards Barrow upon Soar via Wyneswold and Burton on the Wold.
Just the Pork Pie:
Follows the route of The Full Wheel of Cheese route to with a route to Teigh where the routes will split at the 1st feed station, and you'll be heading into Burton Lazers, Great Dalby and then back to Barrow upon Soar via Thrussington and Seagrave
