Event Summary

Event Overview

This is the 5th running of the Ronde Van Calderdale (RVC) and after riding the 2013 event, a representative from British Cycling asked if the Ronde Van Calderdale is the toughest sportive in Britain? If you want to find out, enter the event.

Based on our experience for 2016 event will feature just one ride length which is the 72 mile ride of very testing climbs on both cobbles and Tarmac road sections in and around Calderdale featuring 13 significant climbs to test the skills, stamina and endurance of every rider, with great scenery along the way. These are routes that have brought riders back each year along with their buddies where riders stop and cheer each other up climbs, then remount and hit the next climbs to keep the camaraderie going.

The entry fee will include a rully signage route, three well manned feed stations en route and changing facilities at Spen Valley Sport College. Some on-site parking is available, or park nearby and ride to the Sports College. Refreshments will be available before and after the event at extra cost from outside caterers.

The event will have around 300 signs to keep people en-route, before and after each junction.

This is a unique event in the UK sportive calendar, and all proceeds go to help develop riders from Kirklees Cycling Academy. Five of our riders, all members of British Cycling were selected for the Olympic Development Apprenticeship in October 2014, we have made further investments in coaching resources, infrastructure and subsidised coaching sessions to assist more riders to achieve their potential.

See you in April. Book on early, even with the new limit of 350 riders, places typically sell within 4-6 weeks.

We do not offer refunds but we hope you are ok with this as all funds go the club and everyone involved is a volunteer, giving their time as cyclists, for cyclists.

Darren, Mick, Ginny, Andy, Mark, Gina, Craig, and the other RVC volunteers look forward to meeting previous riders and new riders too and looking after you to the very best of our ability
