Event Overview

Doncaster St John’s Hospice Appeal Sportive – Sunday 05 July 2015

Following the success of the first Doncaster St John’s Hospice Appeal Sportive in 2014, we are pleased to offer this event again on Sunday 05 July 2015, with improvements in response to valued feedback from entrants.

The Doncaster St John’s Hospice Appeal Sportive is aimed at keen cyclists and leisure cyclists looking for a challenge. The event is offered by an experienced sportive provider whose previous events have been featured in national cycling journals and commended on their quality. All takings will go towards the St John’s Hospice Appeal, to help fund improvements to the hospice services in Doncaster.

The event offers two routes of 65 miles (105 km) and 100 miles (160 km), both starting at Woodfield Park, Tickhill Road, Doncaster. Both routes take riders through the cycling heartland of the rolling South Yorkshire countryside around Doncaster, predominantly on minor roads. The 65 mile route circumnavigates Doncaster in an anti-clockwise direction, taking in Tickhill, Bawtry, Auckley, Hatfield, Campsall, Barnburgh and returning via Warmsworth. The 100 mile route starts and finishes on the same roads but leaves the 65 mile route at Harworth to head east on minor roads to then follow the River Trent north until it joins the Ouse, then heading west via Goole and Snaith, to then follow minor roads in order to rejoin the 65 mile route at Campsall. Both routes promise to be fast and could offer personal best times for these distances.

The event will be fully supported with electronic timing, refreshment stops, mobile assistance, sports therapy massage (for an additional small donation to the appeal), finish line refreshments, photographer and a prize draw for cycling gear. The on-line entry fee is £25 for both distances, with all proceeds going directly to the Hospice Appeal. Limited entry on the day will be available for £30 but entrants are encouraged to enter on-line to aid event planning and to ensure that the organisers have your correct details.

Sponsorship forms and a donation website are available for those riders who want to raise additional sponsorship. If would like to sponsor riders or make a donation, please visit our JustGiving page at:
