GE Chiltern Cycling Festival

Cycle Sportive , Buckinghamshire – Sunday, 12 Jul 2015

Event Summary

Event Overview

Amersham Brill Amersham is a Classic 3 distance 100, 60 and 30 mile sportive based in and around the Chiltern Hills. fully supported, the rides start and finish in the beautiful grounds of Penn House, Amersham, just North of London and wind there way through the lanes and legendary climbs that make this area such a hotbed for cyclists. The "turn" will be at the infamous Brill on the Hill a picture postcard setting which will have feed stations and Tech support. Riders then make their way back along the signed routes to finish back at Penn House estate, with a warm welcome from the crowd attending the Chiltern Cycling Festival.

Be warned!!! The longer 2015 sportive routes will cover many of the same local climbs and lanes used for the epic stage 6 of the Tour of Britain which was described by the yellow jersey Alex Dowsett as the toughest day he'd ever spent on a bike...ouch.

The sportive is the flagship event of the Festival which is a celebration of all things cycling for everyone, bring family and friends and "share your passion" in this relaxed country house setting.

Family Fun Ride The easiest ride to get involved with, open to all types of bikes, the route of approx 8km takes in "laps of the Big Park at Penn House" is flat and a great way to just ride your bike with Family and friends. Start will be  at approx.12.30 so why not enjoy a Pic-nic in the Grounds, at the end of your ride and savour the rest of the Festival. If you really want to enter the Festival spirit bring some fancy dress (for bikes and riders)!

Vintage Club Run & Concours d'Elegance
It's all about the simple enjoyment of riding your "Classic" bike on a Summers day in a beautiful location. From traditional wicker baskets to Classic lightweights expect plenty of retro inspired High Jinx - there are no set rules governing the bikes age as long as you enter into the vintage spirit you will be in good company. Make time for a champagne stop at the end or enjoy a Cream Teas in the Gardens.

PLUS there's the Concors d'Elegance parade where entrants with Vintage Club Run numbers will be informally judged on bikes, deportment and the style that best reflects cycling’s golden eras, with podium presentations and rossettes for all winners.

The Festival also has a Gentlemans Hill Climb on Penn House's beautiful long drive, therefore if you want to have a go at this make sure you enter here: Hill Climb Entry

Riders are encouraged to stay with friends and family and enjoy the rest of the days events.

The Festival is open to all... Cyclo Sportives, closed road Hill Climb, Baby Velodrome, Retro Ride, Velo Village, family fun, classic Pic Nic, Vintage fashion, gourmet market, local Beer and produce, LIVE Tour de France action, Music, Concours D’elegance, MTB and so much more
