THE ALEX WARBURTON RELIABILITY RIDE

Alex Warburton was one of the first members of our Club. He was an extremely likeable, gentle, intelligent and quietly competitive person. Alex sadly passed away on the evening of the 2013 Otley Reliability Ride while cleaning his bike at home. Please join us to pay tribute to our friend Alex and his passion for cycling.
All proceeds from the ride will be donated to the Take Heart Appeal at Leeds General Infirmary
The route: The Alex Warburton Ride is a celebration of some of West Yorkshire’s most fiercely ridden roads, and some of the best lesser known Aire Valley paths. Starting at Lawnswood Arms pub (where parking will be provided), the route follows the well known A660/A65 route through Ilkley to Addingham and on to Bolton Abbey. The Gated Climb will prove the first major test. It then winds through Embsay and West to Grassington Road, where it heads North to Rylstone before cutting back past the Angel to Gargrave (make sure you sprint for the sign!). From there, it heads South/East through the rolling roads of Carleton, Skipton, Bradley and Kildwick, before reaching Silsden. Continue South/East through Keighley to Sandbeds before tackling the major climb of the day, the Alma from East Morton. You then follow Bingley Road and drop down through Menston to Otley, before rejoining the A660 and following the Leeds Road back to Adel via Bramhope.
