Event Summary

Event Overview

Blue Giraffe Bicycles are pleased to acknowledge the support of Middlesbrough Council with a new event for 2014, The Tour de North York Moors. There are two options on the day, a 30 mile gently undulating route and a 70 mile challenge route with 1646 metres of climbing. Both routes follow a common first leg from Middlesbrough Cycle Centre at Prissick to Great Ayton and Easby. The short route heads to Ingleby Greenhow and Great Broughton before heading towards Stokesley and back to the start at Prissick. The challenge route is just that – a challenge! From the split the route heads to Kildale, Commondale, and Castleton and then to Egton before heading south to Cropton. The route returns via Rosedale and Westerdale before retracing the route from Kildale back to the Cycle Centre. Within the 1646 metres of climbing on the route you will climb to the highest point on the moors at 416 metres whilst none of the climbs on the moors are extremely long the climbs are usually steep!

Both routes will be fully signed with our ‘bgb’ arrows. The start area has toilet and changing facilities. Our mechanic will also be on hand to help with any last minute problems. A selection of tyres and inner tubes along with other products will also be available to purchase. After signing on you will be given a number to be displayed on the front of your bike and a complementary gel. Both the routes have feed stations where you will be able to top up water bottles and grab some food to keep you going. We also will provide on route mechanic support and a broom waggon. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere so after signing in at the end of your ride please stay a while and enjoy refreshments and a chat. You will find a full route description, map and on the day details on our web site www.bluegiraffebicycles.co.uk
