Event Summary

Event Overview

Get set this June for the ride of your life, as you face the exhilarating ‘Road of Champions’.  Set in the breath-taking county of Monmouthshire, the Championship Sportive will see you tackle the same course the stars of British cycling will as they fight to be crowned British Cycling Road Champion 2014.

EXCLUSIVE OFFER: British Cycling Members get 20% discount when they sign up to ride the Championship Sportive.

Known as the cycling capital of Wales, Monmouthshire is the perfect backdrop for the sportive. Steeped in historic landmarks and sparkling with stunning scenery, this is sure to be the most beautiful sportive you will ever ride.

And this year there’s something brand new. For the first time, the Championship Sportive will feature multiple starting points. That means you can choose where you start from: Abergavenny, Chepstow, Monmouth or the luxurious Celtic Manor Resort. It won’t be easy to choose though, each starting point is pretty special.

We have carefully crafted routes for all abilities and entrants can ride as fast or as slow as they wish through the glorious Monmouthshire countryside on the Gold, Silver or Bronze routes or the women’s-only ride that takes in the course to be ridden by the Elite Women’s competitors.

The Championship Sportive is one of the best facilitated rides in the country: featuring feed stations for people to fill up their drinks bottles and enjoy a snack; timing chips so you know how fast you have completed the course; medical facilities and an emergency call centre; ‘service’ vehicles for any riders who suffer mechanical problems with their bikes; plus medals, certificates, photos at the finish – and much more!

For those riding the Gold Route, there's 100 miles of road designed to push you to your very limits, including one of the UK’s most feared climbs - the Iron Mountain, this exhilarating route is a real measure of your mettle.

Whichever route you choose, we promise you’ll be well looked after. Your sportive package includes:

  • Timing chips synchronized from all starting points

  • Five feed stations along the route

  • Free download of 3LC's Road Race Session featuring Mark Cavendish

  • Brother Neutral Service cars - as used for the Championships

  • Bike mechanics at all starting and feed points

  • Shower and changing facilities

  • Toilets at all feed stations

  • Broom vehicle (to get you home)

  • Medibike paramedics with an emergency call centre

  • Sportive photo available to buy

  • Medals and certificates for finishers

  • Goodie bag

Entries for the Championship Sportive are now open but are going fast. Sign up now and ride the ‘Road of Champions’.
