Event Summary

Event Overview

To celebrate our 2nd birthday we're holding a Road Sportive suitable for all abilities and ages. Our 'Birthday Bash' will include routes of 60, 30 & 15 miles and be in aid of a charity that is close to all the hearts of users of Cannock Chase, Stafforshire Search & Rescue. Also for the whole weekend we have teamed up with Moda & Forme Bikes who will be offering demo bikes on both Saturday and Sunday. This is a great opportunity to sample a new bike and give it a proper test during the entire Sportive, completely free of charge (booking for the Sunday essential) (security info containing a photo and home address will be required prior to demo).
This non-competitive event will take riders through the local lanes around Cannock Chase and through South Staffordshire on Sunday 7th September. The ride starts from outside the Run & Ride (Hednesford) shop and will head out following a fully signed course, finishing back at the store where drinks and cake will be provided.

Course Profile
The route will focus on taking in some of the roads we love to ride ourselves. Based mainly on back roads & small lanes where we love to get away from the traffic of the busy roads. Heading out over Cannock Chase the course will be fairly hilly to start with but the remainder of the route will be easier and rolling. Course maps and GPX files will be made available soon.

Start Time
Signing on from 8.30am. There will be a staggered start from 9.30am to prevent large numbers hitting the main road at the same time.

Start Point
The event will start outside the Run & Ride. For Sat Nav purposes use postcode WS12 0QU. All riders will pass through a 'timing point' at the start and again when they arrive back.

Parking
Free parking will be available either outside the store or in the overflow car parks situated on the estate approx 200 metres from the store.

Refreshments/Feed Station
There will be one feed station situated around half way of the 60m route. Entry cost includes drink and cake at the finish.

Safety

  • Helmets must be worn at all times when riding a bike.
  • A suitable bike in good working order must be used. This doesn't mean that you must use a Road bike. MTB's and Hybrid bikes are allowed too.
  • Be aware that the roads are not closed and open to traffic as normal. You ride the event at your own risk and should take care as you would riding on the road like any other time.

Recommendations
Carry with you suitable spares such as an inner tube, tyre levers, pump, money & a waterproof garment if required.
Also carry enough to eat and drink. Spares and energy products such as bars, gels & dilute-able powders are available to purchase in store if required. A feed station at approx half way on the 60 mile route will be available.

Signing on
Signing on will be open from 8.30am and situated inside the store. All entrants must sign on before they start. Entry on the day will be available. Pre event information will be emailed out 1 week before the event.

Donation
All ride proceeds (after costs) will be donated to Staffordshire Search & Rescue. On the day entries are available. Any extra donations will be gratefully received.
