About the Event

Info for Riders

Ride Full Our route is a 98m (157km) circular ride along the best parts of Stage 1 of the 2014 Tour de France in the Yorkshire Dales. Unlike the Tour riders, who will be starting the day in Leeds and finishing in Harrogate, we have opted for a route which starts and finishes in Ripon. This means that we be concentrating on the best riding that the Tour cyclists will ride, although we will be doing fewer kilometres (157km) on the day than the Tour riders (190km), the section we have substituted from Ripon to Grassington is probably the toughest section of the whole day with over 700 metres of climbing. 98 miles on any route is a challenge but this Stage 1 has some particularly tough climbs followed by some technically difficult descents so it certainly calls for cyclists with an established fitness base and reasonable bike handling skills. The countryside and views in the Dales are unsurpassed. On July 5th next year you will have the satifaction of knowing thatyou have tackled the same route as the world's
