British Cycling has today confirmed the appointment of Jon Norfolk as the Lead Coach for the GB Paracycling Team.

Jon is currently the assistant national sprint coach for the GB Cycling Team. Prior to that, he was a professional track cyclist, representing GB at World Cup level in the sprint events before joining the GB Paracycling Team in 2005 as a tandem sprint pilot.

Jon won two Gold medals at the 2008 Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, breaking the world record in the B/VI Kilo event in the process. He will begin his new role with the Paracycling squad in June.

Speaking of the appointment, GB Paracycling Team Performance Manager Gareth Sheppard said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Jon on board. He has a great track record of developing young athletes and these skills will transfer across to the Lead Coach role. His coaching knowledge combined with his experience as an elite athlete makes him a great asset to the team as we head into Rio.”
