Location: Preston Park, Stockton On Tees
Event: 12 January 2014
Report: Snowdon Sports

Tom Ramsey of Crosstrax took first place in the second Stockton Cyclo-Cross, a series of four events designed to introduce novices to the sport.

The course reflected this but what it lacked in technicality, it more than made up for with lots of thick mud.

A heavy frost on covered the ground as the entrants arrived but with a field of 50, the icy skin over the course quickly broke up and gave way to the mud.

With many novice and beginner riders lining up at the start, it was Tom England (Active CP) who took an early lead although Ramsey and Houghton RC’s David Stevens stayed in contention.

After about 15 minutes of racing, Ramsey made his move and managed to get ahead of England. He held his lead until the end of the race, taking victory by about a minute. England finished in second and Stevens completed the podium in third.

Jen Milson (CPSUK) was the fastest woman on the day and she was also comfortable in victory. The same was true for Katy Ross of Hetton Hawks who bossed the under 16 race to finish half a lap ahead of Hugo Lutz-Atkinson (Martin Race Team) and Nathan Seston (Cleveland Wheelers).
