Great Britain Cycling Team’s Tom Pidcock secured an excellent third place in the junior men’s race at the Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Zeven – just missing out on a race win by four seconds.

The European junior men’s champion rode well to recover from an early crash, closing a gap on the leading Belgian duo of Jelle Camps and Toon Vandebosch that was as big as 45 seconds at one stage of the race.

Pidcock’s late recovery put him in the mix for the overall victory – but Camps held firm to secure the win, with Vandebosch pipping the young British rider to third in a sprint finish.

Ben Turner picked up his second top ten finish of the world cup season to take seventh place, 40 seconds behind race winner Camps, with Daniel Tulett finishing 13th and Thomas Mein 28th.

After two junior men’s world cup races, Turner is the highest ranked British rider in sixth place on 50 points, with Pidcock one place behind on 45. Belgium’s Yenti Bekaert leads on 100 points with four rounds remaining.

In the women’s race, Evie Richards marked her debut at elite level in the world cup with a strong performance to finish 14th.

The under-23 cyclo-cross world champion showed her form in a world-class field in Germany to claim 14th place, finishing 1:24 behind the eventual race winner, Sanne Cant of Belgium.
