All National Standard Instructors must have appropriate insurance cover when they are delivering cycle training to any group of trainees. British Cycling offers a comprehensive insurance policy as part of our membership benefits.
To find out which level of membership you need to take out to get appropriate cover for your activities, please visit the insurance section of our website.
For your British Cycling insurance cover to be valid, you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a National Standard Instructor qualification and British Cycling must have your NSI number. If you don’t have your NSI number please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Have active British Cycling membership.
- Have a valid one- day Emergency First Aid qualification and British Cycling must have a copy of your certificate.
Please send your first aid certificate and NSI details to email@example.com.
If you are employed by another cycle training provider, that organisation is responsible for your insurance cover, unless you are working on a freelance basis (or zero hour contract).
Cover is also extended to include any British Cycling Federation coaching, leadership or instruction activity that is carried out on a commercial basis in which the coach, leader or instructor operates as a sole trader or business subject to a gross remuneration of £15,000 per annum.
