Revived Coventry Cycle Speedway club launch an exciting indoor version of the all-action pedal sport this Sunday (4th November) at the Sports Connexion, Ryton On Dunsmore.

The resurgent Hearsall Common based club, who have just completed a successful comeback season in the traditional outdoor season, are running the indoor events following a boom in membership and interest following the Olympics.

The club, first formed in 1978, now have record membership levels, including an array of highly promising juniors. Club bosses were keen to maintain this new interest until the new outdoor season races into action in March.

Indoor events will be held fortnightly after this Sunday's opening event at the Leamington Road venue. The sessions will run from 7pm – 9pm.

And, to cater in widespread demand for indoor Cycle Speedway, Coventry have thrown open the doors to other Midland clubs to attend. Riders from Birmingham, Bretford, Leicester and Wolverhampton are expected to put in an appearance.

The new venture has immediately won the approval of veteran indoor expert, Paul Timms of Birmingham, the 2010 British Indoor Cycle Speedway veterans champion.

After extensive trial sessions at the Sports Connexion, Timms said: “This is the best indoor surface that I have rode on. I am sure this exciting new venue will prove very popular for winter training and racing”.

Coventry club chairman Dave Foster commented: “We felt we needed to keep all our club members in contact during the winter months and the indoor events at the Sports Connexion is the perfect way to achieve this.”

Charges for the two hour Sunday evening sessions will be £1.50 for Coventry junior members and £2 for Coventry senior riders. Guests from other clubs shall be charged £2 and £4 respectively.

Cyclists from other cycling disciplines and Speedway fans can also join in the action. Newcomers should ask for Event Managers Dave Frith, Myke Grimes or Norman Venson on arrival.
