Event: 6 October 2012

The final round of the One 2 Call British Women’s League takes place at East Park Wolverhampton on Saturday 6 October with a 12 noon start.

There will be a new name on the trophy as the North & Scotland take on the South & South Wales team. The inaugural winners were Midlands and the Eastern Team didn’t make the final to defend their title.

With the emergence of the N & S team and with riders missing from the S & SW it really is too close to call who will be crowned champions.

Likewise the third and fourth positions will be a close affair between the two previous winners of this competition.

Things are even closer with the Team Grand Prix series. With S&SW (current champions), N &S and the Eastern team all on five league points only the Midlands are out of the reckoning each team will be encouraging all their riders to get to East Park to take the title.

In the individual GP in the under 16’s Lauren Hookway has a 10 point lead over Sandra Tamborska with Charlie Jane Herbert four points behind Sandra so things are by no means decided yet.

In the over 16s it really is a nail biter with only nine points separating first and fourth so qualifying races are going to be crucial to make sure they get to the A final.

Last year’s champion Lauren Jacobs had her colours lowered for the first time with a gutsy display from Tiff Collins so it is all to play for. Lauren is currently on 45 points with Tiff on 41 and Danielle Riley and Vicky Brown locked on 36 points.

Despite some hiccups along the way this has once again been a great competition for the women and girls and the standard of racing improves with each competition.
