Wednesfield Aces were victorious in the first leg of the Wolverhampton Inter City Trophy at East Park.

As always the tension ran high in the meeting of the two Wolverhampton clubs; the Aces got off to the perfect start when the pairing of Lee Aris and Scott Dougherty pulled off a 7-3. Heat 2 was taken by the home team whereas heats 3 to 6 were split 5-5. After eight heats the competition was passionate with Wednesfield Aces edging ahead by four points.

After the break East Park started well with a 6-4 in heat 9, closing the gap. Heat 14 temperatures at the East Park track rose and it all spilled over; first to the joys of East Park supporters as Scott Dougherty was excluded for ramming. The home team were full of confidence at the restart with Lee and Matt Smith on the inside and the youngster Matt Haddock on grid four. A tussle between Haddock and Lee Smith on the back straight saw Smith hit the centre green and face exclusion. This further fuelled the fire and East Park erupted from the pits. Back to the restart Haddock did the sensible thing and took the 3 points. Finally the referee got thought the match and the result went in favour of Wednesfield Aces, the final score 85-92.

The second leg on 12 July at Wednesfield will be a very tasty meeting and a real show for the spectators.
