A cold and frosty morning greeted riders at East Park, Wolverhampton, for the latest British Cycling Cycle Speedway Junior Academy session as riders covered topics including technique, nutrition and conditioning.
Following an introduction into the academy for first time attendees, the classroom session started with defining the four major key factors to being a successful athlete – nutrition, psychology, fitness, technique, with a particular focus on nutrition for this session.
Then it was onto the track where the session started with warm up technique prior to getting on their bikes, followed by poise and balance before moving onto conditioning and endurance races before a warm down.
The academy concluded with a follow on classroom session addressing nutrition on competition day with test match series ahead in July against the Poland.
The coaches expressed their thanks to Al Bentley and his team at East Park for use of their facilities.
