The Edinburgh Falcons' Northern League campaign got off to a winning start today with a hard fought victory over current Northern League champions Stockport.

With Craig Newsome and Robert Bandosz leading the way unbeaten for the Falcons the young Stockport side were always going to find it difficult to repeat their one point victory from last year. The top two scorers had great support from Mikey Hewitson and Jake Slight.

For Stockport Dylan Radcliffe top scored with 15 points but a subdued 13 points from former British Champion Terry Norman proved to be not enough to get Stockport's Northern League defence off to a winning start.

It's fair to say this was not one of the quieter days for referee Alan Hewitson who faced many challenges to decisions throughout the afternoon.

The Combination second-team match proved as competitive with the Stockport reversing the first team scores to win by 77 points to 71.
