British Cycling's entry-level coach education course for school staff and volunteers, providing knowledge and practical experience to help you deliver cycling techniques and grassroots competition in the playground or on your school field.

Who is it for?

Cycling for Schools is open to all adults (aged 18 and over), who work or volunteer within the schools sector. On completion, participants will have the knowledge and skills to hold fun and engaging sessions, with a portfolio of challenging activities to help students progress.

The course has been specifically designed for the school environment, ideal for any school that wants to deliver cycling activities and competitions under their own insurance.

What will you learn?

Cycling for Schools is initially delivered from an online platform, helping learners to gain an understanding of what to coach and how to coach. This covers the development of cycling techniques, coaching skills, types of cycling, equipment and safety considerations, while also supporting learners in the planning, delivery and evaluation of sessions.

Building on the theory, learners will develop their knowledge through practical applicaton on a development day. This session should help to build confidence ahead of getting activities set up at your school, though further support is available from your regional HSBC UK Go-Ride Team as sessions become established.

The blended approach of online and practical delivery means learners can flexibly build on previous knowledge and experience levels, creating their own learning pathway.
