Joining as a mentor, you will contribute knowledge and experience to a supportive community whose aim is to encourage more women into coaching roles and develop new models of coach support.

Working in partnership with female coaches, you will play an important part in supporting their coaching education while promoting the adoption of other skills that are increasingly important in making coaching a sustainable profession. These will of course be relevant to your own expertise, but could include marketing, publicity, social media and leadership.

While significant coaching experience is a key attribute within the mentor community, we are also looking for business and thought leaders who will be able to provide female coaches with a rich experience and holistic knowledge base.

The initiative was started by British Cycling and we have worked with Reach from Sports Coach UK and Women Ahead to bring you the most high quality and innovative support available.

The role is detailed in full in the downloadable role description. This also sets out the competencies (qualifications, skills, experience and attitude) that we are looking for in coaches joining the programme.

  • organise at least two opportunities to observe your mentee’s coaching practice, offering feedback and identifying areas for further development
  • complete survey and monitoring information to support us to develop the network and demonstrate impact (around two short surveys per year)

  • share your experiences, stories and evidence of good coaching practice with peers and within the wider cycling and sport community.
