About our club

In November 2013 a small group of friends formed Runcorn Cycle Club. Our aim was to simply get our own kit and have a good time in each others company while on our bikes. More and more people heard of us and joined the club. With the support of British Cycling and Halton Council, we far exceeded any expectations we had in the early days and continue to do so... The rest as they say, is history.

In the early days we weren't into racing, but as more people have joined the club we've adapted to meet their needs. We now have members who regularly take part in local Time Trials, and have juniors also competing. However, our core values of keeping it social so we can all enjoy each others company remain intact.

Our membership is growing by the day and we always welcome new members; from those who want to ride socially and at a leisurely pace, all the way up to the racers. In March 2016 we set up the 'Runcorn Belles' a women only arm of the cycle club. Within 12 months the Belles membership had passed 70 and continues to grow. The Belles are all about encouraging women to take up cycling as a low impact physical activity, with the added benefit of building confidence and friendships in the process. Many Belles have stepped up a level and often ride with other areas of Runcorn Cycle Club including velodrome sessions, MTB and road rides. As a result if this, Runcorn Cycle Club can now boast 40% of its membership being female.

Our most popular ride is the Wednesday Night Social Ride which leaves Brookvale Leisure Centre at 6pm. The ride is road based and covers a distance of 25miles at a pace of around 15mph. We also have a faster group ride on a Friday at 7pm which also leaves Brookvale Leisure Centre. This ride is also very popular for the stronger riders.

The main club ride is on a Sunday at 9am which leaves Brookvale Leisure Centre and covers a distance between 40-60 miles with a café stop at half way.

We regularly organise club social nights and FREE member seminars that include bicycle maintenance courses by The Cycle Centre in Runcorn and training / nutrition advice from Dr Colin Robertson who has a PhD in sports physiology and has worked with the national rugby team and on the Tour de France.

We try to be more than just a cycle club and encourage the community aspect within the club. Our members benefit from discounts at a host of shops and leisure centres, while also benefitting from low cost services provided by fellow club members.

We’d love to welcome you to RCC, all we ask is that you come and give us a go. We're a friendly bunch and you won't find any ego's here. You will feel so welcomed you'd think you'd been a member of the club for months.
If you have any questions please drop us an email at info@runcorncycleclub.co.uk and we'll get back to you.
