About our club
Team Ciara Cycling is a small team of family and friends that was informally set up in 2012 as a means of raising awareness of the neurological development disorder, Rett Syndrome, and to fundraise for the charity, Reverse Rett, by participating in Sportives and by carrying out endurance cycling challenges.
The formation of the team was due to my daughter, Ciara, being diagnosed with having Rett Syndrome the day before her 2nd Birthday.
Since forming Team Ciara, we have carried out a number of Cycling challenges both in the UK and throughout Europe, raising over £100,000 to date and have been recognised at both local and national fundraising awards.
It now feels that a natural progression of our team is to be formally registered as a club with British Cycling. While it is our intention to continue with cycling challenges/Sportives, we now also intend to compete in organised competitions, particularly time trials and long distance Ultracycling events.
Again, the basis of our participation in any cycling challenge/event will be to continue to support the fight against Rett Syndrome and our local Children's Hospice (Claire House), where Ciara goes for periods of respite.
