About our club

Our club is a warm and welcoming cycling club, with an inclusive outlook that has built strong social bonds amongst our members, especially around our love for cycling.

We always welcome and encourage new riders to join us, no matter what your riding abilities and interests are. We meet every Saturday at The Bear, in Esher from 9am, for a pre-ride coffee and chat, before we set off riding at 9:30.

Our Saturday club rides have groups for all levels and abilities of road cyclists; we have social rides of around 30 miles, medium groups riding 40-50 miles, and faster groups who often go further. All our rides vary in terms of speed, profile and destination, however you can rest assured that there’ll be a ride that’s right for you. As a club rule, we never leave any riders behind, especially on those lovely/horrible Surrey Hills! Although please don't worry if you're not a fan of hills, we really enjoy our flat rides too!!

We generally have a Saturday gravel bike ride if you like a bit of off road cycling, as well as a weekly Wednesday evening road loop ride for a midweek blast, if that takes your fancy? On bad weather days, there’s an active Dittons Velo Zwift group, so we’ve got you covered there too!

We also like to regularly plan whole day rides, such as to the Isle of Wight or Brighton, or organise trips to places like the Olympic Velodrome.

Post-ride on Saturdays, you’ll always find our different groups gathering back at The Bear, relaxing with a few well earned beers and enjoying a good old chat about our day’s cycling exploits. On those warm summer afternoons, we can definitely say that The Bear’s beer garden is the place to be!

As a club we don’t participate in racing events, but we enthusiastically encourage our members to enter the many local sportives that take place throughout the year, as well as many of the bigger events such as Ride London and the Tour of Cambridgeshire. Some DV members have also taken part in overseas events such as the Maratona or L’Etape du Tour.

If you are competitive then you may be tempted to compete in our annual King & Queen of the Mountains 20 Strava segment challenges. Whether it’s battling for top place, seeing how you compare with your club mates, or simply just trying to better your own PBs, we celebrate everyone who completes all 20 segments with a little prize at our annual Christmas party awards ceremony.

So if Dittons Velo sounds like the cycling club for you, then all you need to do is CONTACT US and come along to see what we’re all about. We’ll make sure that on your first ride with us, you’re cycling with a group that suits you and, without any doubt we’ll definitely guarantee you a very warm welcome and a great ride!
