About our club

We currently operate 3 different paced rides on a Sunday morning. The groups are - Steady Group, Intermediate Group, and Fast Group. We welcome anybody to come along and join our rides. You don’t have to join the club to ride with us, although, there are benefits to joining GBECC, obviously.
GBECC’s motto is “no one left behind”. If you’re having a bad day, let’s face it, we all have them from time to time, then you’re not going to be left to ride home on your own. But by the same token, please make sure you can keep up with the group you decide you’re riding with. We’re always looking to develop our riders, so as people gain in their prowess and speed, they like to move on to the faster groups.

Steady Group. If you ride with our steady group on our Sunday social ride, then the group will ride to a pace to suit those riding. We operate a “no-drop” policy with all our groups, so you won’t be left behind. As already stated though, please make sure you can match the pace of the group you choose to ride with.

Intermediate Group. If you ride with the Intermediate Group, the pace is at 15mph. This is a good group for development, the pace is brisk, but still sociable, so you can expect plenty of chatter! It’s something we do a lot of in GBECC. We have a bit of fun at times, and plenty of chatter.

Fast Groups. This group typically rides at 18mph upwards. We’re developing a lot of the riders in this group to represent GBECC in competitive cycling. The pace is fast, and not much time for talking.

We encourage and welcome anybody to ride with us. We are a relatively young club, but obviously, we’re looking to grow. Next year we are launching our racing team “The Flying Bees”. We will be entering Time Trial competitions, Cyclo Cross events, and Road Racing events. We’re also very active on the sportive and charity event scene.

Come along to one of our rides and give us a try! You don’t have to be a member to ride with us, but obviously joining GBECC as a paid member has many benefits. If you become a fully paid up member, you’ll find you’ll be covered by the club’s insurance down to 5 degrees Celsius, but you must wear a helmet at all times when riding with us - that is one thing we do insist on.
