About our club

Highland Velodrome Trust was set up in 2013 to "foster the creation and operation of a safe cycling 'development hub' centred on a velodrome provided for the benefit of all inhabitants of the Highlands of Scotland and such other persons who are studying, working or visiting in that area".
In 2015, Highland Council announced that a new indoor 250m. velodrome would form the flagship activity in a multisports performance centre to be built at the Bught, Inverness at an estimated cost of £30m. Funding is being sought from a variety of sources by the Council, whilst Sportscotland have pledged £5-7m.
HiVelo's membership comprised 8 SC-affiliated cycling clubs and twenty individuals in 2016 -- the Trust is actively recruiting and welcomes all kinds of riders. Its main functions at present are lobbying and fundraising (including running the Culloden Cycle Challenge and Loop sportives).
The Trust is a charitable body, registered in Scotland as a SCIO, number SC045707. It is recognised for 'gift aid' on donations by HMRC. HIVELO is a registered trademark.
