British Cycling has settled a claim for third party property damage on behalf of a Ride member in relation to an incident which occurred in February 2013 when he was involved in a collision with a parked vehicle.

Cycling

Our member was riding along the road when his glove snagged in his gear lever and was distracted as a result. He then became aware of a stationary vehicle which was parked at the side of the road. Unfortunately, he was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the car and smashed the rear windscreen.

Liability for the accident was admitted by our member. As part of his membership he had the benefit of British Cycling’s third party (public) liability insurance cover and the claim made against him by the owner of the car has been settled on his behalf in the sum of £987.23 by British Cycling.

Further information regarding legal and insurance benefits currently available to British Cycling members can be found on our website.
