Member Stories - Crossroads collision

Share |

British Cycling member Mr Ian Herbert has successfully recovered damages in relation to a road traffic accident, which occurred on 18 July 2012, as he was cycling along Lloyd George Avenue, Cardiff.

Commuting

As Mr Herbert was travelling on his bicycle straight ahead at a traffic light controlled cross-junction, a third party who was travelling in the oncoming direction turned right directly across the path of his bicycle, causing a collision.

As a result of the impact Mr Herbert was thrown from his bicycle and sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses.

Liability for the accident was admitted by the defendant. Mr Herbert received compensation for his personal injury and the damage to his bicycle.

Mr Herbert was represented by Faqir Nawaz in Leigh Day and Co.’s Cycling and Sports Injuries Team and his claim was supported and funded by British Cycling.
